Diversity & Multiculturalism
What an amazing year this is! The work of the diversity practitioner takes many forms, and this year, in addition to working closely with students, I have taken on a new role, providing faculty development training through a series of monthly seminars as part of the SEED program on Inclusive Curriculum.
With the invaluable assistance of Fiona Mills, a member of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, since last year, and a member of the English department, our office has implemented the creation and support of new programs and initiatives including Hot Topics discussions, and the hugely successful Cultural Outburst.
The concepts of diversity and multiculturalism permeate everything we do in our community: from the classroom to dorm life to student life and athletics. The many programs, speakers and events that we host make it clear that our work continues to be a consistent and central focus of our community.
I invite you to take a look through our newly updated web page to glimpse a sampling of the diversity programs and activities at Loomis Chaffee.
